Extraordinary praise for Rowland Kudritskaya Duo CD, Les années folles, on Dutch Radio 4

The Rowland Kudritskaya Duo’s CD Les années folles was recently reviewed on the Dutch radio station NPO Radio 4, which is the equivalent of the UK’s BBC Radio 3.

The following comments were made live on air on the prestigious Dutch Radio 4 programme Discotabel, on which an expert panel ‘blindly’ reviews new recordings:

“ontzettend goeie violist die een hele mooie subtiele toon heeft”

“erg mooie musici die goed bij elkaar passen…”

“Een ontzettend mooie zangerige violist die mooie lange lijnen trekt en een pianist die daar goed bij aansluit… ja, ik vind het prachtig.”

“Er is opwinding en bezetenheid maar het is ook beheerst..ik vind het vibrato van de violist zo verschrikkelijk prachtig!”

“gewoon heel erg mooi,  ik hou van het risico dat ze nemen en het vuur en het zangerige van hoe de violist speelt vind ik echt heel erg mooi.”

“very fine musicians who fit well together…”

“A tremendously beautiful, lyrical violinist who spins gorgeously long lines and a pianist that fits so well … yes, I love it.”

“There is excitement and frenzy but it is at the same time also controlled..I find the vibrato of the violinist so terribly beautiful!”

“Simply gorgeous, I love the risks they take and the fire, and the lyricism of the violinist I really do find very beautiful.”

When then asked  “and who do you think is playing?” panel members responded with suggestions such as “Tetzlaf -Vogt?” “Kavakos – Pace?” They should of course have said “Rowland-Kudritskaya”!
