
Violin and viola concertos with English Symphony

It was a great pleasure to record and perform the world premieres of 2 very beautiful, appealing & brilliant concertos by Philip Sawyers, with the excellent English Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor Kenneth Woods. With Maja we did Philip’s Double concerto, with me on violin, and then I did the viola concerto – this was special: I love the viola and hadn’t played it for a while. The NMF, the Muziekinstrumenfonds in Amsterdam very kindly loaned me a gorgeous Vuillaume viola for this, and I loved every minute of the preparation, the recording and the concerts, on this beautiful instrument. The recordings were in the wonderful Nimbus studio is Wyastone, near Monmouth, in Wales.
