BBC Radio 3 Broadcast of Elgar Centenary Concert

Daniel Rowland’s performance of Elgar’s Violin Sonata with Martin Roscoe will feature as part of a broadcast on BBC Radio 3 tomorrow evening (7th May) at 7.30pm.
The broadcast will be of a concert that took place last Thursday in the Forum Theatre at Malvern, for the Malvern Concert Club, where Daniel featured both as soloist and as leader of the Brodsky Quartet in a programme of music by Edward Elgar.
The concert, which was also Daniel’s last with the quartet, was hosted by the society that Elgar founded in 1903 and marked the centenary of his three major chamber works: the String Quartet in E minor (op. 83), Violin Sonata in E minor (op. 82) and Piano Quintet in A minor (op. 84). These works were all premiered in 1919, featuring alongside one another at the Wigmore Hall, and the quartet was dedicated to the original Brodsky Quartet (the second of two founded by Adolph Brodsky at the end of the 19th century).
After its broadcast at 7.30pm on Tuesday 7th May, the programme will be available here for a further 30 days.
