Solo

“Stellar playing … Daniel Rowland has a powerful, glamorous tone, gleaming at the top and throaty and rugged down at the bottom.. he plays with such fiery intensity that the music seems to shake” Gramophone

There’s a broad and colorful repertoire that I love playing, from the many, crazy concertos by Vivaldi through the late romantic gems by Elgar, Nielsen, Korngold and Szymanowsky to great 20th century classics such as Bartok, Schnittke, Glass, Adams, Lindberg, Ligeti, Ferneyhough, Piazzolla… I also love working with composer and commissioning new works, and nothing is more exiting than the first reading of a newly written work by Marcelo Nisinman, Isidora Zebeljan, Peteris Vasks, Kaja Saariaho,  Roxanna Panufnik, Søren Niels Eichberg, Albert Schnelzer, Robert Davidson, Cecilia Damstrom, Tamir Odeh-Tamimi… I love approaching every work with the freshest possible eyes, and I love creating programmes with great contrasts, full of surprises!  This are some of my favourite concertos:
