Strong feeling and total immersion; every note had meaning and direction

Smålandsposten, Kjell Nilsson

Imagine the combination of virtuosity and profound musicality. Last spring, we heard the duo Rowland / Kudritskaya in Växjö and these two  certainly have these abilities.

They managed music with strong feeling and total immersion; every note had meaning and direction. Their CD contains music from 1920s Paris, a place for bold experiments with art, theatre and music. There were Debussy and Ravel in their impressionist sound-world, there was Piazzola’s tango music, Gershwin brought the jazz idiom, Antheil’s music challenged the good taste.

The highlight? Perhaps Ravel’s Violin Sonata. It contains everything.
